Located at Lake Tahoe, California, Sugar Bowl Academy is a fully accredited college preparatory high school for competitive skiers. It's a world-class ski academy for Alpine, Nordic and Freeride athletes.

We've got some of the most challenging big-mountain terrain in the Tahoe region. If you've got the passion, we'll help build your determination, confidence and focus.

You'll train for competition in the regional Tahoe Junior Freeride Series (TJFS) events and national-level International Freeskiers and Snowboarders Association (IFSA) events by learning a progression of skills in a safe and fun environment. We supplement our big-mountain training with Freestyle components such as jumps and spins before moving on to harder off-axis aerial moves.

On slope-style terrain, you'll focus on fundamental jumps and spins before moving on to harder off-axis aerial moves that will be incorporated into freeskiing competition. In the backcountry, your coaches will teach you how to use beacons, probes and shovels, recognize potential hazards and make informed decisions regarding skiing out of bounds. With small training groups, the daily on-snow focus is tailored to your individual needs and goals.

You'll prepare for the winter competition season by attending fall and spring on-snow and dryland camps in a variety of locations including Mammoth Mountain, Beartooth Basin, and Mount Hood. You'll also train for air awareness and body control at Woodward Tahoe, a world-class indoor action sports training facility located only three miles away.
